Supreme Court: “Cops Can’t Stop, Speak or Look In General Direction Of Any Person For Any Reason”

(Habanero of Texas) РThe United States Supreme Court Ruled 9-0, today, that a police officer may not: stop, speak, walk by, or even look in the general direction of any person for any reason whatsoever, regardless if the cop believes the person has just committed murder or any other offense. This ruling comes on the cusp of public outrage over police arresting criminals for breaking an assortment of laws.

An unidentified Police Union Official at the foot steps of the Supreme Court stated, “This is really going to make our job a lot tougher, but we will persevere and do what the community has entrusted us to do….and that’s pretty much nothing after today.”

THats the stupidest thing I have ever heard. What ever happened to states govern themselves. The federal government needs to get out of the states. So if there is a crime I guess the citizens will have to take care of themselves since the Supreme court wants to get involved. Its time for the states to tell the federal gov’t to go to hell and start doing their job and taking care of their own state.

I think the law is for police officers who use there fictional suspision card on a regular basis to harass private citizens. I don’t think this law is for police officers who do the right thing and catch REAL criminals in the act of committing a crime.

Kris, you are a moron. The fact you spent time looking for evidence to disprove rather than re-reading the article I find quite hilarious.

At least Kris made an attempt to research before stating a conclusion unlike the idiot above who apparently believes anything in type and uses it to show his lack of any intelligence.

Apparently you two missed the second line from the top: Police “news source” peppered with satire.
    Satire means sarcasm.
The fact that you didn’t see that, isn’t a big deal. But the fact that you couldn’t figure it out on your own by reading the article, is.
Its a satiracal joke in reference to the public and news media constantly picking apart every move a police officer makes as if they can never do anything right.
Please, please, let’s start using our noggins, state farm boys and girls and quit taking everything you read on the internet as fact.
Let the hate comments roll, but you know you feel at least a little dumb on the inside.

Unfortunately, a development in this direction (although certainly not to this extreme) is not entirely implausible at the moment: With the current backlash against racial profiling (and dominance of politically correct thought), I could easily see demands and/or some local regulations made for severely restricting the police. This could for instance include that the statistics of a police department must show that no racial or ethnic group receives more attention than would be expected from its proportion of the population, which would mean that a great many legitimate suspects need to be ignored in order to keep the balance. (Alternatively, of course, that a greater amount of _illegitimately_ suspected people are added on the other side of the scales.)

This is a flagrant misreading of the recent Supreme Court decision. Officers can still look but the court prohibits them from making decisions based on what they see.

For instance, imagine a person running away from a convenience store with an arm full of cigarette cartons….. If you think that was probably a robbery, you are probably a cop.
